Jamie and James Drake Chicago Wedding

THIS DAY!!!! You guys know I’m already obsessed with Jamie and James from earlier blog posts, but today I’m here to tell you about their beautiful wedding last June.

Jamie and James chose the famous Drake Hotel Oak Brook as their venue and it couldn’t have been more perfect. They were married at James’s family’s church in the city, and we had one heck of a blast riding the trolley from place to place. Let me tell you… this wedding party knows how to CELEBRATE! They were dancing, laughing and hyping the bride and groom up all day long!! We stopped for portraits at the Wrigley Building and it started to rain, but that didn’t put a damper on the mood of this group. They laughed and partied right through the storm!

Throughout their day, Jamie and James incorporated small moments and traditions that represented them, their families, and their cultures. Some moments included a foot washing ritual at their ceremony, MULTIPLE outfit changes by Jamie and her bridesmaids (you gotta scroll for the amazing looks!!!), as well as special songs and Indian dances late into the reception!

My favorite moment of this wedding day was the toasts. Listening to Jamie and James’ families talk about them and their love story was so so special. These two are the kindest, serving-others-first type people. When it came time for me to leave at the end of the night, I just couldn’t say goodbye!! So I set my camera down and stayed late to dance and celebrate this epic group of people.

Jamie and James, as you approach your one year anniversary I hope you’re overwhelmed with all the joyful memories of your wedding day. Thank you so much for continuing to trust me to tell your love story. I adore you both!!!
